Willem Uitslag, the tenant, stated it was the energy of God that helped him escape the hearth after the roof collapsed whereas he was rescuing puppies from his room.
Uitslag, his spouse Johanna, and his father-in-law Louie have been on the porch of the outdated wooden and iron residence once they noticed smoke popping out of the room. Their 15-year-old son Willem Junior was in one other room.
